The Living Room Bistro and Wine Bar
Fronted by a tranquil stretch of beach at the end of Soi 51, the white colonial-style beach house ablaze with lights is a new addition to Hua Hin’s culinary scene.
An array of standing lamps illuminates its well-manicured lawns and the hum of quiet dinner conversation hangs in the balmy sea air.
Once this was part of a vacation home of Princess Raohinavadi Dissakul, daughter of Prince Damrong Rajanubhab.
Today, diners, mostly couples and groups of friends, sit alfresco on a mix of beanbags, formal tables and white benches, nibbling on a menu split into Thai, Western, and a selection of fusion dishes. Some of which have been adapted from the princess’s recipes.

Grilled beef salad has succulent morsels of meat, in a piquant sauce with a bite of chilli, while deep-fried prawns are crunchy and flavoured with a zesty version of Thousand Island dressing.
For more substantial one-platers, the smoked salmon penne in cream sauce and the moreish chicken cheese pockets in garlic gravy are recommended. Finish off with their soft chocolate cake. Besides the usual cocktail concoctions, a small wine list offers mostly New World reds, whites and sparkling options.
For the indecisive, there is a page of food and wine pairings: chicken liver pate with a Buller Merlot-Cabernet Sauvignon; seared tuna steak with Cape Spring Chenin Blanc (South Africa) or Morettino Bianco (Italy). Manager Art says the menu is still being re-jigged to account for all palates.
