The Wahgor Aquarium is located 10 minutes south of Prachuab Khiri Khan, in the town of Waghor and on the beach front. It is a great day trip for the whole family with many indoor and outdoor exhibits. The aquariums offer a wide range of marine and freshwater wildlife with lots of educational information on each ecosystem. They have also made the presentation of each ecosystem match the environment of the original habitat.
Outside they have created several life size exhibits that relate to astrology, prehistoric life, with full scale dinosaurs and you can also find real asteroids within the park. There is plenty of parking and places to enjoy an outdoor picnic or just a great day away with your family and friends.
The aquarium is a part of the King Mongkut Memorial Park of Science and Technology at Waghor. Its objective is to become a learning centre for scientific marine ecology and the environment for students, the general public and tourists. Eco tours offer visitors a fascinating glimpse into aquatic ecosystems, including river, brackish water and the ocean.
The Waghor Aquarium received a budget of 162,230,000 baht for construction in 1999-2001 and was completed in March 2002. Further budget was granted for interior design and exhibitions, which began in August 2003 and was finished in October 2004.
Hours of operation: 09:00 – 16:00.
